uCheck: Number One For Employer DBS Checks As Rated By Government Statistics

employer dbs checks

At uCheck, we are always striving to offer the very best service to our customers when it comes to DBS Checks.

Upon checking their quarterly update, the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) have found that uCheck had submitted more employer DBS Checks than any other umbrella body in the country this quarter.

We couldn’t be more proud of our outstanding team for this achievement.

How many DBS Checks did we submit?

In the first quarter of 2020, uCheck submitted 158,461 DBS Checks – a mixture of Standard, Enhanced and Basic DBS Checks.

This was the highest amount, according to the DBS, that any umbrella body had submitted in the same timeframe.

Mandatory Enhanced DBS Checks are requested in the highest volumes – however, in recent years we’ve seen a huge increase in demand for optional Basic DBS Checks. Due to the rising cost of recruitment and the cost of making a ‘bad’ hire, companies don’t mind spending £33.40 to have as much information as possible to hand when making their recruitment decision.

Our largest individual client volume for DBS Checks currently sits at 30,000 to 40,000 checks a year.

With this in mind, we understand and appreciate the importance of DBS Checks in the workplace, and strive to process DBS Checks as quickly as possible – typically within 48 hours (but our record is just 13 minutes!).

Which industry requested the most DBS Checks?

Unsurprisingly, the healthcare industry tends to put in the most requests for DBS Checks, accounting for around 40% of the checks we submit.

Recruitment follows with about 20% of our submitted checks, followed by Education and Services with approximately 15% each.

At uCheck, we started out offering a service to the care sector, which explains our strong presence in this market. As a result, we process DBS Checks for approximately 50% of all care companies in the UK – we are incredibly proud to be such a presence in this industry.

Conclusion

While our company has grown over the years to become the largest DBS umbrella body in the UK, we have never changed our mission or values.

We started as a small family business with a mission to make it quicker and easier for employers to get DBS and other pre-employment checks for their employees. Our ethos has always been centred on care, knowledge and innovation – providing people with the confidence they need in the hiring process.

We see integrations as the key to further growth, and will continue to provide the best possible experience for our clients with our top-notch team of vetting and screening experts.
